Regularly consuming 20-25 g of protein every 3-4 hours (with every meal, but especially after training) is the best way to support the growth and maintenance of muscle mass and to contribute to good muscle recovery. At night, however, athletes cannot consume protein for 6 to 9 hours. Due to the slow and prolonged absorption of casein, this is the most suitable protein source to take before going to bed and thus optimize protein absorption without unwanted calories from carbohydrates and fat.
